Install via Bun

bun create next-app my-app
cd my-app
bun dev

Bun's package manager is dramatically faster than npm or yarn for installs.

Folder structure

Next.js 16 with the App Router looks like this:

Key files

app/layout.tsx — the shell rendered around every page. Put your <html> and <body> tags here.
app/page.tsx — the default export is the page component for that route.
next.config.ts — Next.js configuration. Turbopack is the default dev bundler in v16.

Tip: You can have nested layouts. Each folder can have its own layout.tsx that wraps only the routes inside it.
